Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
My primary treatment model is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a highly researched, effective, and personal framework for approaching therapy and the therapeutic relationship. As an ACT therapist, I believe that we are all in this being-human-thing together, and that you are the only expert on your life. My role is to help you understand yourself and your values more deeply, to help you identify the thoughts and fears that keep you stuck in unworkable patterns and behaviors, and to support you in your commitments to living the life you want.
We all understand that sometimes life is very painful and difficult, and that we can’t avoid struggling with life’s challenges, no matter how perfectly or safely we try to live. As your ACT therapist, I can help you be more flexible in your approach to living, to find new coping skills for difficult times, and to connect more deeply to the things that make life worth it even when it’s painful. If you’ve been struggling with unhealthy behaviors, relationship problems, emotional suffering like anxiety and depression, or self-critical thoughts, ACT therapy can help you move forward.
